44. How can I author a video DVD on my Mac? I can use Toast for this, right?

There is a difference between authoring a video DVD and burning one.

Toast lets you burn a video DVD when given a complete, authored video DVD disk image. While Toast 5 Titanium can author a VCD (video CD) from your video files, it does not have the resources to author a DVD.

DVD authoring software generally burns to a DVD-R from within the software, although DVD Studio Pro can create video DVD disk images that Toast can burn.

Options for authoring video DVD's on the Mac as of January 2003 include:
- DVD Studio Pro
- iDVD2
- software that comes bundled with (and works only with) the Formac Devideon external superdrive
- software that comes bundled with the ADS USB Instant DVD for Mac
